Preparation Continues for the National Matchplay 2011

Des and his workers hollow tining the first green

Collinstown Pitch and Putt Club have been given the honour of hosting the National Matchplay Championships for 2011. Since this news was confirmed last year there has been steady work going on in the background by the committee and members in preparation for the event. The latest session of work saw the hollow tining of the greens. Several of the club’s members attended the work session and it was plain to be seen the enthusiasm within the club to have the course in the best possible condition for the June Bank Holiday weekend Championship.

But course preparation is only part of what’s involved in the preparation for a championship of this magnitude. Food, accommodation, parking and many more issues need to be well planed in advance. Collinstown are also producing a booklet for the event, following the huge success of the booklet they produced for the Leinster Matchplay last year. The booklet will have the usual program of events for the weekend. It will also have a number of articles from the various officials and members for the weekend. There will also be advisement available for purchase in the booklet with a quarter page costing 30 euro, a half page costing 50 euro and a full page costing 100 euro. Anyone interested in purchasing advertisement can contact this website at info@collinstownpitchandputt.com.

As the weeks go by we will be keeping you up-to-date with how preparations are going for the Championships here on this website.
