PRO’s Weekly Report – 18th April 2011

PRESIDENTS PRIZE.

Last weekend 8th to 10th April we held the first of our major club competitions of 2011 namely Presidents Prize. Play commenced at 2pm on Friday and continued until last card at 5pm on Sunday evening. Our President this year is Ena Clinton who is our second lady President which is in keeping with the national trend. Debbie Fitzsimons (RIP) was our first Lady President in 1987. We were blessed with the weather over the 3 days as the sun shone most of the time and players were saying that Ena must have a direct line to the man above. Scoring was of the highest order with some of our members playing 16 and 18 rounds. The following is a full list of the prize winners:-

WINNER LADY:   Liz Quinn

R/Up:  Anne Kelly

WINNER GENT:  Martin Carter

R/Up:  Larry McGinn

36 Gross: Liam Buckley

36 Nett:  Stuart Tarleton

It was a wonderful weekend of pitch and putt and good humour and banter. Ena spared no expense in her choice of prizes. Thanks to all who helped out over the weekend. Thanks to Anne Kelly who spent most of the weekend cleaning the clubhouse and to Mary who brought goodies to eat. Thanks to Larry and John who kept tabs on the scores. The course is in great condition and thanks to all who worked in same to get it as good as it is. Thanks to Moira who stood in for Des our Chairman, who was unavoidably absent, and as usual gave a lovely speech – you are a pro Moira. It was lovely to see a new member, Rene Bloem playing at the weekend and we hope he will enjoy his time at Collinstown.
