PRO’s Weekly Report – 28th March 2011

PADDY BARDON SHIELD.

The first round of this competition took place in glorious sunny Collinstown on Saturday last the 26th. We had 7 teams (3 on each team) which was good.  It’s a pity we couldn’t get one more team as it would have evened up.   I personally think it was a great idea to get the Club competitions under way for the year with a team event. I know I haven’t hit a ball since November so it eases one back into the game. Well done to Larry & John I am sure for coming up with the idea. The scoring was of the highest order. We will do it all again on Saturday next the 2nd April at 10 am when the second round will get under way.

PRESIDENTS PRIZE.

This competition gets under way on the following weekend. It will commence on Friday afternoon the 8th April, Saturday 9th at 10 a.m. till dusk and Sunday 10th April 10 a.m. till last card at 5 p.m.  We hope all our members will turn out in force to honour our Lady President Ena Clinton. It is a re-entry competition so members can play as many rounds as they wish. The minimum number one can play is 3 rounds but there is no upper limit to same. We look forward to an enjoyable weekend.

IRISH OPEN.

The above competition takes place in Deerpark in Killarney on the 16th & 17th of April. A number of our club members have qualified to play in same and we wish them the best of luck. They are Larry McGinn, John Browne, Peter Dolan, Paddy Browne & Liz Quinn.

SYMPATHY.

We send our deepest sympathy to the Daly Family, Clondailever and the Murphy Family, Gilliardstown on their recent sad bereavements. We also sympathise with the Michael & Liam Buckley and their families on the death of their Uncle James last week.  Go ndeanfaidh Dia trocaire oraibh go leir.

CONGRATULATIONS.

Congratulations to John Browne for his excellent reports on the Collinstown web site. The Fixtures for 2011 are available to download now. Thanks also to Larry McGinn who compiled the Fixture list which is not an easy job. The web page is www.collinstownpitchandputt.com.
