PRO’s Weekly Report – 5th August 2013
UPCOMING CLUB COMPETITIONS.
Wednesday next the 7th August we have the Des McManus Cup at 6 pm.
Wednesday 14th August we hold the Tommy Greville Cup also at 6 pm.
Fri 16th – Sun 18th August we hold our Open Strokeplay. Play commences at 2 pm. on the Friday and will run all day Saturday from 9 am till Dusk and on Sunday 9 am till 6 pm. More details next week
LEINSTER INTER COUNTIES.
The above Championships take place in Cement in Drogheda, Co. Louth on Sunday next the 11th. The Westmeath team (Gents) comprises no less than 5 of our players. They are John Browne, Michael & Liam Buckley, Alan Hanlon and Rene Bloem. The other member is Pat Malone from the Custume club and the two subs are from the Kilbeggan club , Ronan Whelan & Niall Cuffe. We wish them the best of luck. The Westmeath team were runners up in this event last year in Stackallen so maybe they can go one better this year.
CLUB DOUBLES FINAL.
The final for the above competition has been fixed for Thursday 15th August at 6pm. The four people involved are John Browne & Gary Middleton – v – Martin Carter & Michael Scally. We wish them all the best of luck. As you can see it is a very busy time for our club with a lot of club competitions going on as well as outside competitions. A number of our members are involved in the Senior Inter club competition and have a number of fixtures fulfilled.
Anyone who wishes to get a shot back must apply in writing before the 15th August.
SYMPATHY.
We sympathise with Carmel Doherty, Delvin, who is a great supporter of our Whists, on the death of her brother, Ger Murtagh, recently. May he rest in peace.
